Singapore Cancer Society - TalkMed Relay For Life 2020
At Singapore Cancer Society, your health and safety is of paramount importance to us.
The current Covid-19 situation in Singapore has intensified and we regret to inform that we will be cancelling the RFL event on 15 & 16 February 2020. This decision comes after careful deliberation considering the well-being of our participants, volunteers, staff and especially our beneficiaries who are cancer survivors and patients.
We seek your kind understanding and cooperation as we implement the above necessary action in line with the government’s advisory with regards to large scale events. We are taking this proactive step to ensure everyone’s safety.
All updates will be posted on the event Facebook page and affected participants will also be informed via email and SMS.
To carry on the spirit of RFL, which aims to bring together the community to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost or still battling cancer, and to fight back against cancer, Singapore Cancer Society and TalkMed will be planning for a Virtual Relay For Life 2020 with an online virtual event and a virtual 100km challenge in March or April 2020, for participating teams to do their part in support of the cancer community.
Events like RFL are crucial as we rally the public to come together and bring hope and encouragement to those impacted by cancer. The funds raised through Relay For Life 2020 will support Singapore Cancer Society’s efforts in providing holistic care to our cancer patients throughout their journey. This includes financial subsidies to alleviate the burden from cancer treatment costs, psychosocial and emotional support programmes, cancer rehabilitation, hospice care, and other areas of assistance. The journey can be extremely challenging and with your support, no one needs to fight cancer alone.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to having your continued support for RFL in the coming years.
Relay For Life (RFL) is a global movement founded inh May 1985 by the American Cancer Society in Tacoma, Washington. Since then, it has gone worldwide, raising about $5 billion to fight cancer. About 4 million participants take part in RFL across the globe annually, making it one of the world’s largest fundraiser.
Singapore Cancer Society is the 25th country to organise RFL and aims to rally the community together to celebreate the lives of those who battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has taken so much. It is also an excellent platform for cancer survivors, caregivers and volunteers to be recognised, supported and connected via a strong support system.
